Arboriculture
The care and management of trees is a professional area. The Government had completed a manpower study for the industry in 2017, result showed that there would be manpower shortages in arboriculture, horticulture and landscape architecture industries and the shortage was particularly serious for qualified arborists and skilled tree workers. The Financial Secretary proposed in the 2019-20 Budget Plan to set up a $200 million Urban Forestry Support Fund to provide training and attract more young people to join the arboriculture and horticulture industry, and to establish a professional system for the industry so as to upgrade the professional level of arboriculture and horticulture practitioners.
